Saturday at the RT started off with breakfast with Mary G! I'd thought I would run into her more than I did, so I called her up and we had breakfast. Then it was back to the room to get ready for the big booksigning. I had a terrific time and actually sold more books than usual, but that wasn't the only thing that made it special.
Here are all the people lining up for the signing a couple of hours before the event.
This is me at my table. I hadn't even put out my bookmarks yet, but Sharon Lathan's husband came around to take pictures, so I got him to take one with my camera.
The writing team known as Lydia Dare (Jodie Pearson and Tammy Falkner) were there in costume since they were going to another event after the signing. I thought they looked wonderful!
Remember Charles Paz who was Mr. Romance a few years back? He was there, along with a few other cover models, which is what separates this convention from the RWA conference. The eye candy is MUCH better and easier to spot!
Then there was this fellow. Not sure why he was dressed as a pirate, but who cares? He looked like he was having fun.
Speaking of eye candy, Ivan Rusilko was at the signing, and Mary G went to get his autograph. She took this picture of him with my book, but had to get him to hold the book several different ways before you could actually see the cover because it's so shiny! She wanted to get an autograph for me, but I was stuck in the signing. They said, "Well, we could take him to her. We even have a camera crew."
They were hoping I'd be surprised. Needless to say, they were correct. Ivan is very sweet and he even smells good. I told him he had a beautiful smile, and he thanked me, saying that most people tell him he has beautiful "other things." Anyway, I talked to him for a bit, and they filmed us the whole time. Apparently Dateline is doing a segment on him. I don't know if they'll use that footage or not, but if they did, it would be VERY cool!
We went to the Sourcebooks cocktail party for librarians and booksellers, where I got my picture taken with Sean, the sales guy at Sourcebooks. He's the one who sold Rogue to Barnes & Noble with a one word sales pitch. He laid the book on the table and said, "MEOW!" That's him doing his cat claw thing. Interesting side note here, Slave was the first romance novel he ever read. *sniff*
LOL! Can you tell that Sharon Lathan and I both got the "wear red" memo?
I've had a great time here at RT, but I'm looking forward to heading home to see my family. Not long after the cocktail party, Sam called and asked if I'd checked the weather and wanted to know when I'd be home. They're calling for thunderstorms here on Sunday morning, which might delay my departure a bit, but I should be home in time to feed the horses.
For today's hunk, I figured I ought to post another pic of Ivan showing just a little bit more skin...

Okay, yes, yes I definitely have to go to RT LOL.
I'm glad you had a lot of fun, Cheryl and it'd be great if you get to be in footage shown on TV!
Ivan is indeed a very good looking hunk...

Love the pics and Ivan is adorable.
I'm in Detroit waiting for my connection to Toronto. I forgot to tell Cheryl that Ivan laughed when I said, "This book is perfect for you!" One best part was when they asked me if Cheryl would mind if they brought Ivan to her nstead & would she be surprised. Ya think???
Inside I'm doing the OMGOMGOMG dance. The look on Cheryl's face was priceless! Why didn't I have my camera out??? Then she leans over the table at me & says, "What did you do???" I'm still laughing.
Yep, that was a pretty wild day, and one of my more successful booksignings, which I told Ivan later that evening when I rode down the escalator behind him... ;)
Getting ready to pack up and have breakfast and get on the road. Looks like the rain is moving out, so it should be clear all the way home.
So glad you're having such a great time!! Wish I could have gone too, but we'll have a wonderful time in California!!
Safe trip home!!
OMG!!! You did meet IVAN!! Slapping myself to next Sunday!!!!! Mary G. what did you do? How was he? Was it as big as that smile? LOL!! Thank You ladies for making my day!! And there's no doubt you've all had fun.
I'm confused about Lydia Dare. I thought they were the team of Tammy Faulkner and Ava Stone. ????
LOL! You might be right, Donna, but those are pen names too!
Looking forward to Anaheim, ER! We'll have a blast!
A friend of Mary G.'s asked her (on my FB page photo of her) why she had bought a GI Joe (SHE WAS HOLDING WILLY!) I couldn't tell whether he was kidding or not but it was damn funny either way. I'm sure Mary G. will give us the down-low when she has a minute.
So, Cheryl and Mary G are on their way home. I'll bet there are some good stories...
Hi all. Hubby just picked me up but my phone is out of juice anf you'll get the lowdown later.
Donna for some reason my answer to your question appears before your question. It's all there.
I'm home too! Got in a little after 3PM EST. LOL! I just got used to daylight savings time, now I'll have to adapt all over again!
Glad you had a great time at RT! The pics look so fun and Ivan...OMG! Can't believe you actually got to meet him! I'm soooo jealous! LOL! I need to attend more conferences!
Can't wait to see you this weekend! Wonder if I could persuade Ivan to join us there? :D
See what you miss when you stay home, Noelle? Of course, none of that would've happened without Mary G! She's awesome!!!!
